The Law of January 11, 1603, issued by King Filipe II, created the Ordinances of the Kingdom that had been compiled by order of his father. The King considered that the Ordinances “were made in the time of King Manoel, of glorious memory, my great-Grandfather“. Now, King Filipe II determines that this new compilation should regulate all the activity of the kingdom of Portugal, with the exception of a few laws “that go outside these five Books”.
