This standard of one “oitava” (eighth), in bronze, has a parallelepiped shape and a smooth base. It has two opposing wings, decorated with affronted scrolls and floral motifs.
The dimensions are as follows:
On one side is engraved the Coat of Arms of Portugal (Latin shield with five escutcheons loaded with five bezants and bordure with seven castles, surmounted by a closed royal crown). On the opposite side there are several inscriptions: “R / L / V / I / SEBAS / TIANVS / .A.S / 1575” inside a stripe superimposed on a diagonal arrow.
This standard has the Lisbon ship engraved, which indicates compliance with the Lisbon standard.
